Taroona High School Music

Taroona TAS

This new development involved the demolition and construction of a double storey building as an extension of the occupied Music and Drama facilities.

The unique project challenges faced involved the proximity and management of the site within an operational school environment which required a high level of communication with project stakeholders and school administration.

This ensured minimal disruption and impact to student learning and the ability of the school to provide a safe environment.

Being a music and drama facility, the key element to the building includes high level acoustic requirements for glass, doors and walls, within the five new individual practice rooms along with the rehearsal room and main performance room on the first floor

Main construction consisted of slab on ground, suspended concrete floors, structural steel, brick and block and the feature metal cladding.

The internal finishes consisted of feature Tas Oak timber, acoustic perforated plasterboard customized joinery and storage units.

A rewarding project to be a part able to bring together a first-class facility for one of the largest public schools in Tasmania.
