Vos Construction and Joinery was contracted to work on The Western Renewal Project which focused on the venues largest internal space, The Grand Concert Hall. The hall seats 2000 people and is known for its high vaulted ceiling and the world’s largest mechanical tracker-action pipe organ weighing 37.5 tonne.
We prototyped, designed, fabricated and installed the timber, acoustic and architectural brush box (a local native species of eucalypt) diffusion panels and substructure which accommodates the operable components of the theatre equipment. This is a key part to the acoustic and architectural upgrade to the Concert Hall, and comprises the single largest visual aspect to the 50-year renewal.
