LGH Acute Medical Unit Redevelopment

Acute Medical
Unit Redevelopment

This project involved constructing nine negative pressure isolation rooms within a fully operational hospital. The ward, on Level 3, had ducting extending to Level 6. The project also included demolishing the southern ward and installing a new prefabricated 52m² plant room, with pre-mounted exhaust fans which was lifted into place to minimise disruption.

Coordination with hospital staff ensured precise scheduling of shutdowns, demolition, and slab penetrations for ductwork installation. Mechanical, electrical, fire, and hydraulic works were carefully timed. The new layout required relocating drainage to Level 2 (Health Information Management System) where patient records were safeguarded through risk management and collaboration with staff. The project was completed successfully without damage.
