HELIPAD

Vos completed a vital helideck facility atop the existing carpark of the Launceston General Hospital. The project, which included a deck-integrated fire suppression system, aerobridge, and a new lift tower, adhered to the strict Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.

This complex project demanded meticulous planning and innovative solutions due to significant site constraints and work-at-height conditions. We used a tower crane for optimal space management and a precise set-out for the helipad’s steel structure and lift shaft, which were essential for the pre-manufactured components and aerobridge. A key innovation was using pre-assembled deck units, which were transported and installed smoothly over three nights, overcoming logistical challenges like road closures.

Despite challenges such as weather delays, we completed the project on time, which was a result of our proactive communication and collaboration with stakeholders. This landmark helipad project provides immediate access to life-saving medical services, greatly benefiting the Launceston community. Vos is incredibly proud to have contributed to this achievement.
