Wrest Point Redevelopment
During the flooding event of May 2018 the downstairs area of Wrest Point Casino was extensively damaged, within a month Vos Construction had been contracted to remediate and remove all flood damaged materials from the affected areas, these works included demolition of damaged floors and walls, removal and appropriate disposal of damaged materials and drying out of the affected areas.
Once this work was successfully completed Vos were retained by the client to fit out the downstairs including the gaming, Pier One restaurant, front entry and atrium and external boardwalk areas. While documentation was being readied for the refurbishment works Vos were also engaged to refurbish the Club Forte, Motor Inn and Wellington Gallery areas.
The refurbishment works to the downstairs area started in October 2018 and involved all electrical and data and full refurbishment of the gaming area, a full kitchen refit for the restaurant and extension of and refurbishment of the atrium and restaurant seating areas including joinery, floor finishes, services and some structural elements.
Some logistical difficulties were met due to the site being part of a working casino with large numbers of staff and general public in close proximity and the location of the site at the back of the complex, these were overcome with careful coordination of construction works and deliveries with the client.
As part of the staging of the project Vos were required to handover the gaming area first before Christmas and maintain access to this area while works went on around it. All works were completed and handed over to the client on time and within budget in May of this year.Value: $5.6 Million
