projects - Construction

HIAPL Freight Precinct

Hobart Airport, Cambridge

Green field project consisting of development of sub-division including road & warehouses. Civil scope included coordinating of infrastructure, new road, power, water, sewerage & fire-fighting facilities – water tanks & fire pumps.

Warehouse development consisted of 3 separate tenancies of office & warehouse facilities. With the first tenant already engaged with the client, they required their area to incorporate large freezer capacities who engaged their own freezer contractor for supply & installation. Vos were required to co-ordinate their installation & a dead-line for operation requirements. The project was of a very quick time-line & needed to address critical issues early on.

First item was to relocate the current airside boundary fencing & make the site separated from the airport’s operations. Due to weather exposure & prevailing winds this was critical to manage elements such as vast concrete works & later high volume of roof & wall cladding installations. These were both critical timeline elements for the projects programming. One solution implemented for the high volume of concrete works; this was organised to be undertaken with very early morning starts to avoid delays with morning traffic congestion.

The Project was delivered on time & the client was very pleased with the result.
